Great songs to get you dancing round your home (and feeling great)

So I was in my room the other night, singing at the top of my lungs and I got a message from my brother. It basically compared me to a dying animal, see picture below, and instead of being offended because I think I am a great singer it made me realise how great of a mood I was in. Nothing spectacular had happened that day, infact it was a pretty meh day if I’m honest but I guess that just goes to show the affect a good song can have on you so I thought I would share some of my favourites with you.

You’re at home, feeling like shit for whatever reason. Whether you’re going through a break up, feeling lonely, had a crap day or just feel like having a dance these songs are guaranteed to have you at least tapping a foot.

And when I say guaranteed, I mean I think they are good and they put me in a good mood so I’m just assuming I have great taste and everyone else will enjoy these songs.

If you don’t like them feel free to let me know what songs are better. I love music and enjoy listening to new recommendations!

These songs don’t necessarily have the most uplifting lyrics – in fact even though I know the words to most of these I don’t actually know what they are about because I am focusing on how awesome the beat is. Also, admittedly I am usually dancing around my room like some sort of weirdo with the curtains open, sorry neighbours!

Betty Who – Somebody Loves You

She’s a babe, her songs are catchy, the lyrics are uplifting. This song was a no brainer to add to the list. Also I really recommend checking out her other songs, they’re just as awesome!

Wilson Phillips – Hold On

I’m sure by now the majority of you have seen Bridesmaids (if you haven’t go watch it now). I went to watch it with my mum, which made for an awkward viewing in the first minute of the film but also for a great memory. Anyways, this song was in it, I loved it and I have loved it ever since. It’s catchy, it’s great, they’re a group made up of The Beach Boys daughters so I was destined to like it and I am sure you will like it too.

Kelly Clarkson – Heartbeat Song

This song is about finding love and being happy about it, ironically I found it after a breakup but I decided it was too happy of a song to listen to that I made it work as a great dance hit.

Rachel Platten – Fight Song

I mean, how can you listen to this and not want to sing “this is my fight song!” at the top of your lungs. End of.

The Beach Boys – Good Vibrations

I mean, maybe it’s because I miss my dad, maybe it’s because I was made to listen to these guys my whole life but I genuinely enjoy this song. Especially putting on a deep voice and singing ‘she’s giving me excitations’ it’s a good time, trust me.

There are plenty more songs I dance and sing way too loudly, badly? to but these specific songs are my favourites and I really hope you find a goodie in one of them.

*** Guys, I shit you not, I am sitting here, singing along while putting this together and my mum goes “oh, you don’t sound so bad now”, my family are so good to me – insert rolling eye emoji here
